Dec 10: Athletic Training Clinic and Parent Meeting

Get your players ready and come learn about next season.

Updated Wednesday December 6, 2017 by El Cerrito Youth Baseball.

ECYB will hold a free pre-season instructional clinic for youth baseball players of all skill levels on Sunday, December 10 from 12 noon to 2pm at Harding Park (see program description below).  Parents are invited to hang out in the Harding Park clubhouse starting at noon.  We will have a short program to welcome new members, talk about new things for the year, and answer any questions.

What:  Athletic Training Clinic
When:  Sunday, December 10 from 12 noon to 2pm (arrive early for warm ups)
Where:  Harding Park, 7115 C St, El Cerrito, CA 94530

The first part will focus on speed and agility training and core strength development.  The second will connect this training to the needs and demands of baseball.  Groups will be set up for inexperienced and advanced players.  Training for the least experienced players will include drills to improve throwing and fielding to help prepare them for January evaluations.  Players should arrive early to warm up prior to the clinic.

This free clinic is all about helping our kids reach their athletic potential.  Some kids just need help learning how to run fast.  Others need help with their footwork or hand-eye coordination.  For the most advanced kids, training properly during the offseason can be the edge they need to shine at tryouts and compete at the next level.  ECYB membership is not required, and we encourage players to invite friends who may be thinking about playing baseball.

Manager and coach volunteers are asked to attend so that they may integrate speed and agility training into their season practice plans.  Parents are encouraged to attend with their kids, especially where they would like to help their kids learn to throw and field properly.

Joe Ruiz, one of ECYB’s professional trainers and owner of X-fit Training, will lead the clinics.  Joe has more than 16 years of experience as a Sports and Fitness trainer and played baseball at Cal State East Bay.  Joe has worked with multiple travel baseball and high school varsity baseball teams. His main goal in training young athletes is to help them maximize their full athletic potential by controlling their bodies when performing athletic movements.

ECYB will sponsor additional skills clinics throughout the spring season as part of its professional trainer program.  Our dedicated professional trainers include former college and minor league players as well as instructors with coaching experience at the high school level.  In addition to running skills clinics, our trainers also visit team practices to help our managers and coaches provide high quality instruction for our players.
